State Parks Pocket Guides
The State Parks Pocket Guides project tackles a unique design challenge: creating a small, approachable guidebook for Ohio state parks. The goal is to provide visitors with easy-to-access information on recreational activities—from camping and hiking to fishing—as well as insights into the history and natural features of the park. While many national park guidebooks exist, few resources are tailored for Ohio’s state parks, leaving visitors unsure of how to explore beyond central attractions like lodge hotels and restaurants.
Starting with Shawnee State Park, I designed the guidebook to help casual visitors become true park enthusiasts—encouraging them to step off the beaten path and fully experience the park’s outdoor offerings. The project allowed me to apply illustration and design in a real-world context, creating a visually engaging and informative product that fills a clear need in the community.
